🌿 Spring is Here — and So Are the Bugs. Here's How We're Protecting Our Pets.

The days are getting longer, the parks are filling up, and our cats and dogs are spending more time outdoors. Spring and summer are wonderful for our pets — but they also bring fleas, ticks, midges, and flies along for the ride.

At Iv San Bernard, we've been recommending the same two-product solution for a while now, and it consistently gets the best feedback from our customers: the ISB Protective Shield Shampoo and Protective Conditioner from the Traditional Plus Line.

What makes these different from a regular shampoo?

The Protective Shield Shampoo is built around a natural blend of eucalyptus and mint extracts that creates a repellent effect against fleas, ticks, midges, flies and other parasites — without harsh chemicals. It's SLS-free and EDTA-free, so it cleans gently without stripping the skin's natural protective barrier. After the bath, your pet doesn't just smell fresh and clean — the coat is actively working to deter insects.

The Protective Conditioner follows as Step 2. It's a balsamic-based formula with menthol and eucalyptus, reinforcing the shampoo's repellent properties while the chamomile and Mauve sylvestre flower extracts calm and soothe the skin underneath. Because spring and summer grooming is more frequent, keeping the skin comfortable matters just as much as keeping the bugs away.

Used together, they work as a system. The shampoo lays the protective foundation; the conditioner locks it in and conditions the coat at the same time. Both are suitable for all coat types.

One tip: allow both products to sit on the coat for about 5 minutes before rinsing for best results. And if your pet is heading into a particularly bug-heavy environment — long grass walks, woodland runs, outdoor events — adding KR24 to the protective shield conditioner can enhance the result.
